House Summon Jonathan Over Insecurity

June 20, 2012 in Recent News

The House of Reps Tuesday summoned President Goodluck Jonathan to brief them on the worsening security situation in the country.

The House also directed the President to come alongside the DG of SSS, Ita Ekpenyong; Acting IG of Police, Mr. Abubakar Mohammed and the NSA, General Andrew Azazi (Rtd).

The invitation was consequent upon a motion by Hon. Yakubu Barde from Kaduna who moved that the House condemn the bomb attacks by Boko Haram on Sunday in Kaduna and Zaria, and the reprisal attacks that followed in different parts of the state.

The motion was however amended by the Minority Leader, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamilah (ACN) and Hon. Ben Nwankwo (PDP) from Anambra who prayed that instead the President be invited with his security chiefs to address the House.

The session was presided over by Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal while the motion was unanimously adopted.

The leadership of the House is to give a date that the President will appear
